Supporting Growth in
Western Kentucky through the Pennyrile Energy Corridor
We’re the Pennyrile Regional Energy Agency.
The Pennyrile Regional Energy Agency was founded to provide enhanced energy supply opportunities to the Pennyrile region of western Kentucky. PREA’s first project will be a natural gas supply line serving portions of Todd, Christian, Trigg, Caldwell, and Lyon counties, with the aim of providing reliable, affordable energy solutions to unserved and underserved individuals and companies.
Our mission is to facilitate projects like these, which bring jobs, resources, and improved quality of life to our part of Kentucky: the Pennyrile region.

Benefits to the Pennyrile Region
Increased Access to Natural Gas
A solution for accessing natural gas in our area is long overdue. Communities within the Pennyrile region will benefit from increased gas supply.
Opportunities for Development
With the addition of the pipeline, a large, underserved area of Western Kentucky will become prime for industrial development.
More Jobs in Western Kentucky
As industries build in Western Kentucky, quality jobs requiring a stable workforce will be created. The pipeline itself will also generate new jobs.
Improved Quality of Life
Many Western Kentucky communities lack access to affordable, reliable fuel for heating, cooking, and transportation. We’re changing that.
Counties Served
Our first project is a natural gas pipeline beginning near the Lamasco community in Lyon County, following the I-24 corridor across portions of Caldwell, Trigg, and Christian counties, and ending in Guthrie (Todd County). Planning and design of the pipeline are underway, with a goal of establishing service in 2025.
